2nd call: Special Focus & Natural History

Globally we see an increasing awareness of the coherence between life style, exploitation of natural resources, climate changes and wildlife. This is probably the most urgent field of problems, that children and young people face, widely communicated through mass media and schools today. It may be frightening and overwhelming. By including a SCIENCE & NATURAL HISTORY track aimed at children and young adults for M:brane 2021, we take into account the need for attention regarding the truth of the matter. And not least, to shed light on hope, the possibilities of changing status quo through a wide scope of media product, made at eyelevel with those, they are aimed at.

For M:brane 2021 we are delighted to invite producers with Science & Natural History projects, ranging from Documentaries, TV- or Web Series as well as VR/XR/Immersive and fiction projects.

Documentary: La Vida es un musical, GotFat Productions, Spain/Sweden

  -with the following motivation:
We found this project really beautiful, fell in love with the main character Alvaro and moreover - it’s an important story of fighting to be yourself, fighting for your identity in the modern complex world.
"La Vida es un musical", a feature length documentary, was selected for M:brane’s 2020 pitching session and the 6th RealYoung programme, that took place online. Kids Kino Industry staff have viewed all the filmed pitches of M:brane 2020 online and following made their choice.

"La Vida es un musical’ follows the transformation into the adolescence of Alvaro, a vivid philosophical child in a small village in the Canary Islands. At the local square, he performs street musicals. He embraces his inner dancing queen and uses music to build himself up again to overcome traumas from bullying from school. He decides he can be whoever he wants to be, but when puberty comes he starts to but a look on himself, will he remain true to himself?
