Researcher at RISE | Head of GameNode at RISE | Gaming Lead at MIMER AI Factory, Sweden
Björn Flintberg is a lifelong creative who spent most of his life navigating between technology and creativity. He works at the government-owned research institute RISE, where he leads and coordinates the support for the Swedish video game industry. He is also in the Strategic Target Group – Games for EU’s EIT Culture & Creativity and head of Gaming at the massive EU-funded AI-project Mimer.
From the humble beginnings of boardgames and role-playing games since the age of 11, he has used the concepts of games – collaborative, creative, problem-solving sandboxes – to develop his own career as well as his skills, claiming that most of what he has learned and done, is in some way related to his experiences with games. He is a serial entrepreneur with experience of highs and lows, including business failure – which he both wrote a book about and still teach about at Lund University.
Björn has BA in History, a Master of Science in Information Technology, and is currently a PhD candidate in Innovation & Entrepreneurship, making his academic career part of his renaissance man-approach to life.
