FullDome cinema, a space where people can be transported into different environments, is experiencing a renaissance driven by technological innovation and a growing collaborative ecosystem. The dome format acts as a catalyst for “savvy young minds” moving beyond didactic lectures to offer transformative experiences. It gives an opportunity to “instill a passion for exploration”.
On stage: representatives from organizations and creators from independent productions out of four countries. Unlike other virtual reality devices, the Dome allows to share a collective experience in one place with an audience and invites creative artists to new hybrid exploration, mixing digital and live performances, sound installations, education and entertainment, science and arts – reinventing storytelling once again. Micky Remann founded and directs the international Jena FullDome Festival, which celebrates its 20th anniversary from 15 to 18 July 2026.
This coincides with the 100th anniversary of the emblematic Zeiss Jena Planetarium, where modern planetarium technology was invented. Micky Remann is an honorary professor of immersive media at the Faculty of Art and Design at the Bauhaus University Weimar. Together with students and artists, he has pioneered immersive music theatre, transforming the planetarium into a multimedia performance space.

Produced by IVAR Studios, Nordic Glaciers is a mesmerizing immersive odyssey through Europe’s natural history. This cinematic experience, specifically designed for Fulldome cinema, blends high-impact visuals with urgent scientific facts to illuminate the majestic wonders of our melting glaciers.
Targeting youth and classrooms, the project aims to inspire environmental stewardship in tomorrow’s decision-makers. By contrasting the icy giants of the past with the climate reality of today, Nordic Glaciers offers an unforgettable, immersive ride through the chronicles of time.

“Darkness Matters” was presented last year at m:brane and has since evolved into a FullDome cinema experience. Director Costanza Julia Bani, will talk about the process – and line up to the exclusive première screening at Wisdome Malmö, Wednesday March 11 for m:brane participants.

CELL WORLDS going FullDome: In 2025 Renaud Pourpre showed up his beautiful, immersive project about and from within our cells. A year has past and now Renaud is able to be showing us the story behind the full immersive version. An exploration mission through our own cells, Cell Worlds brings together an immersive exhibition, an introspective documentary, a live musical performance and a cinema experience.
